Plan your work and then work your plan.

That is the advice many give. Planning is important. It’s not just about writing a to do list. An actual plan is something that will help you reach your goal. And planning in itself is an art when done properly can work wonders.
But the problem is in your busy life where you wake up, eat your breakfast in a hurry, go to office, come back crash on your bed. You don’t just feel like planning for the next day.
Well, that is the prime reason why I recommend planning for a whole week. And that is what even I do and it is far more effective. So how do we exactly plan for a week.
Set a planning time
It’s always to better to have a fixed time to plan your whole week. Try to have this time in the day off of your week. I usually plan my week in Sunday evenings.
When you have a set time in long run it becomes more like a ritual and that would be very helpful.
Select your planner
Not everything suits everyone. While some might love to write it in their planner and some would find it helpful to mark it in their calendar.
Find out which works best for you. Whether it is writing in paper or using a mobile app to plan. Try everything and find out what works.
Do a brain dump
But before you start planning on your own comfortable planner. Do a brain dump. Grab a plain sheet. Think of all the things you need to finish. Don’t think whether it’s long term or short term, useful or not. Just write down whatever you think will work.
Prioritize your tasks
There are many ways one can prioritize the tasks. Find out what needs to be done as soon as possible and what can be done later. Assign dates and times for tasks that needs to be done as soon as possible.
Schedule time for breaks
Once you assign dates for your important tasks schedule time for breaks. It’s very important that you take breaks. Breaks are as important as your tasks are and you need regular break to have a healthy work life balance.
Review your long time goals
Once you have scheduled important tasks and breaks, now move on to long time goals. Look if you could progress a step on your long time goals and schedule short steps
Voila! You are ready for the next week. Have a happy week 🙂
